Overview

One catalog, one front door — evidence-based HIV interventions, upcoming trainings, and eLearning for health departments and community organizations implementing CDC’s High Impact Prevention approach.

Effective Interventions (effectiveinterventions.cdc.gov) is the public home for CDC’s Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Interventions program. Practitioners need to find the right intervention, understand how to implement it, and register for training — often under federal accessibility requirements and with CDC stakeholders reviewing every navigation change.

Myriad partnered with Danya International to implement a Mobomo-led visual redesign: responsive front-end templates, a seven-category navigation model, repeatable intervention page architecture, Sitefinity integration, and a formal 508 / WCAG 2.0 review cycle through launch.

Videos template — related videos grid with MP4 and audio-description downloads

The videos template is a shared pattern: related titles, downloadable MP4s, and audio descriptions in one grid so every intervention reads the same way.

Effective Interventions

The Challenge

More than thirty named interventions across testing, care, prevention, and community-level work — each with its own training path, materials, and subpages. Practitioners needed a simpler way in. CDC needed navigation they could approve. The site had to meet Section 508 before the January 2018 WCAG deadline.

June 2018 Danya announcement for the Effective Interventions redesign — updated global navigation, billboard, training calendar, and What’s New

The June 2018 launch promised a streamlined path to information and course registration — updated navigation, a refreshed billboard, and training front and center.

Effective Interventions

The Solution

A Sitefinity platform with seven top-level categories, repeatable intervention templates, integrated training calendar and eLearning entry points, and an accessibility program that documented every pass and fail against WCAG 2.0 before launch.

PROMISE for HIP intervention page — six resource cards from core elements through capacity building

Each intervention shares a template architecture — core elements, training materials, eLearning, and capacity building assistance — so thirty-plus programs read as one system.
