This post is about how we helped the bank think strategically about their digital marketing and branding efforts.We have had the privilege of rolling out a new site design with new CMS functionality just in time to celebrate their 80th year in business. This historic D.C. community bank is looking to make waves with new markets who are looking for the traditional community bank experience but also want the benefits and convenience of internet and mobile banking. Our design was not just functional but strategic as it makes good use of the banks size and capabilities.

Server reliability 

Myriad’s web servers are located in a state-of-the-art datacenter in the Sterling Network Services facility. It utilizes one of the most well-connected, secure and reliable data center facilities in the western United States, providing us unlimited growth and expanse options. The datacenter and network are monitored and supported 24/7/365 by our hosting partner’s on-site network administrators. For the utmost in service, uptime and redundancy, our infrastructure features the latest technologies and security precautions, including:

Network Infrastructure

Every server within the network utilizes a multi-gigabit fiber optic backbone. Each segment is supported by a separate gigabit sub-network, eliminating data saturation. This method optimizes internal bandwidth and ensures that each of our servers and IP addresses is connected at its fullest potential. By creating segments, our hosting partner can drastically reduce any delays from server to server operations and protect or isolate each segment individually. For example, a website requests data from a SQL server that resides on the same fiber-connected segment in our network, making for faster and cleaner data transfer. In addition, our hosting partner utilize hot and cold standbys for all network equipment to provide uninterrupted connections and multiple redundancy for all of our servers.

Network Security

Housed within an industrial-grade, blast-resistant concrete structure, the Tier 4 2N+2 Sterling Network Services facility conforms to the strictest physical security standards. Security measures include state-of-the-art biometric and physical control devices, manned 24/7/365 security and video surveillance. For enhanced protection, the facility features advanced fire detection and suppression which includes state-of-the-art pre-action fire protection and life safety systems. The datacenter utilizes a temperature and particulate controlled environment with Liebert HVAC units, arranged in redundant paths with 18 foot ceiling heights for superior heat loss and airflow. The hosting environment utilizes other enhanced internal security measures as well to protect customer websites and data. The web servers are SAS 70 (Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70) certified as our internal control activities passed a comprehensive third-party audit standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Battery Backup

Myriad servers have the benefit of a stable climate with virtually zero risk of natural disasters (e.g. earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, etc.). In addition, the datacenter facility has maintained a 55+ year record of zero unscheduled power outages. The datacenter is fed from multiple grids through loop-fed transformers and diverse entry vaults with 2 x 3,000 Amp (480v) A/C feeds. Our servers use top-of-the-line UPS systems for protection against power spikes and outages. If power is ever lost, the datacenter is backed by on-site back-up power generation from dual 1.5MVA diesel generators with 80,000 gallon diesel reserves.

Internet Connections

Besides being one of the largest data center facilities in the western United States, the Sterling Network Services facility is located in the largest Point of Presence in Arizona. Our servers utilize GigE (Gigabit Ethernet) connections to the Internet and have access to over 20 different fiber providers at the facility, for a superior level of thru-put and adequate failure protection.
